Interactivity amplifies the value of any data analytics. You perform and achieve the target, but when it comes to presenting it, the onlooker can take time to read and comprehend the data-table. Moreover, it would be a brain game to figure out how much you have achieved. The onlooker will compute by self the efficiency in comparison to the target. While doing so, a few minutes will go in vain.
This is why most of the outsourcing data entry companies in the UK hire some interactive tricks in Excel. Such companies deal with millions of megabytes every day in the form of the database. When they collate and make it comprehensive, the Goal chart resembling like a battery would pay off their efforts.
I’ve used this trick at the time of my data presentation. It took just a minute to understand how much efficiency I achieved. In association with the speedometer chart, I made an unforgettable impression. Let me share how I create the battery chart.
Steps to create a ‘Goal Chart’ like a battery in the Excel:
1. Create a database. Define the achieved and perceived goal in the percentage. Clearly mention the statistics in the table. It should be set up in this manner:
The data under the left and right lids define the volume of both ends of the battery. Therefore, you can take it according to your desire. Now, you have the database to begin the chart with.
2. Go to the ‘Insert’ menu.
3. Select the ‘Stacked Cylinder’ option from the chart. All cylindrical stacks will look standing separate. Now, you need to merge all the stacks in one. You can merge gigantic database while showing actual versus achieved performance in any data entry project report. The figure would automatically voice what you want to iterate.
4. Move the cursor to the ‘Design’ menu. Click the ‘Switch Row/Column’ in the menu bar. The difference will reflect in the chart. All stacks will converge in one. If you want to identify each stack after the merger, you need to choose the chart with different colours.Subsequently, erase all the axis bars and data.
5. Now, change the colour of the upper (purple) and lower (blue) lids. For doing so, you need to select each one. Right click. A drop down menu will offer many options. Choose ‘Format Data Series’ option. Its dialog box will pop up.
6. Go to the Fill option in the left pane. Click the ‘Solid Fill’ radio button. Change the colour and the border colours. I’ve taken grey as the colour to fill the lids and their border.
7. Move on to selecting the green coloured area. As said above, it denotes the target. So, you need to change its colour first. Take the colour that you want to merge with the background colour of the chart. I took black shade since I’m likely to merge it with the same background.
8. Now, you need to penetrate transparency in the target (black) area of the cylindrical figure. For it, go to the ‘Format Data Series’ again. Select the ‘Fill’ option once more. Adjust its transparency by moving the slider to the 60%.
Now, you can embed this kind of battery along the data to make your presentation interactive and absolutely impressive.
